Day 7 Public Benefit Corporation & Mozilla Foundation
A complete partnership vision for human flourishing, open intelligence, and the future we build together.
Democracy & AI Cohort 2026Where It All Began
In 2010, Carter Hill stood in front of a whiteboard and wrote one number. He had been reading a World Health Organization report. The number was 24,000 — the children under five who die every single day. Not from mysterious diseases. Not from conditions beyond our understanding. From dehydration. From infections we cured decades ago. From malnutrition — in a world that produces enough food for 10 billion people.
That number broke something open. It wasn't a lack of knowledge killing those children — it was a lack of systems to deliver what we already know. The cures exist. The expertise exists. But it's scattered across 8 billion people who have no way to connect it to the people who need it most. A mother in rural Kenya doesn't need a new invention — she needs the oral rehydration therapy that already exists to reach her village before it's too late. A community health worker in Uganda doesn't lack dedication — they lack the connected intelligence to match symptoms to solutions in real time.
The tragedy isn't that we don't know enough. The tragedy is that we know more than enough and still fail to connect that knowledge to the people who need it most. Every year, millions of preventable deaths occur not because humanity lacks answers, but because the answers live in silos — locked inside institutions, buried in research papers, hoarded behind paywalls, or simply unknown to the communities where they could save lives.
Carter spent the next 15 years designing systems that could bridge that gap — studying how knowledge flows, how communities organize, how technology could serve the most vulnerable instead of exploiting them. He studied everything from microlending in 🇰🇪 Kenya to community health networks in 🇺🇬 Uganda, from education models in 🇧🇷 Brazil to innovation ecosystems in the 🇺🇸 United States. What he found was always the same pattern: the knowledge existed, the will existed, but the connective tissue between them was missing.
That whiteboard moment became the founding purpose of Day 7 Public Benefit Corporation and the genesis of Genesis — the most comprehensive AI platform ever built for human flourishing. Every line of code, every architectural decision, every sleepless night traces back to that one number.
Delivering exceeding value, void of all exploitation.
The Partnership Vision
Part of Something Bigger
Ten of the nation’s most dynamic foundations have committed to a five-year initiative to put people at the center of AI. Genesis was built for exactly this mission.
Individual value. Collective compounding. 10X minimum.
Who they are: One of the largest private foundations in the US. 60+ years of grantmaking in criminal justice reform, climate solutions, nuclear risk reduction, and the 100&Change competition.
How Genesis makes them 10X: Connects 60 years of grant outcomes into one living intelligence. Predicts which interventions will compound. Identifies which of their 1,000+ grantees should collaborate but have never met. Impact measurement in real time, not annual reports.
Who they are: Pierre Omidyar’s philanthropic investment firm. $1.5B+ deployed across responsible tech, digital infrastructure, and governance. Invested in Wikipedia, Khan Academy, and 200+ organizations.
How Genesis makes them 10X: They fund the thesis — Genesis IS the thesis made real. Truth as architecture, not aspiration. Responsible technology that structurally cannot be made irresponsible. Their entire portfolio connected by one intelligence.
Who they are: The organization that saved the open internet. Firefox, Thunderbird, Mozilla Ventures ($35M fund). 28 years defending users against monopolies. Now fighting to “do for AI what we did for the web.”
How Genesis makes them 10X: Firefox goes from declining (32% → 6%) to indispensable. The only browser with truth verification and manipulation detection. 200M users become 600M. Thunderbird becomes the most intelligent free email on Earth. Mozilla’s relevance explodes.
Who they are: $600M+ annual grantmaking. Global programs in inequality, democracy, freedom of expression, and creativity. 1,000+ active grantees worldwide fighting for a more just world.
How Genesis makes them 10X: One intelligence connecting all 1,000+ grantees’ work. Duplicate research eliminated. Impact measurement automated across borders. When intelligence is sovereign, justice becomes accessible to every community — not just those who can afford it.
Who they are: America’s largest funder of arts and humanities. Supports museums, libraries, universities, cultural preservation. The Monuments Project. Higher learning for all.
How Genesis makes them 10X: 7,117 languages — 40% endangered — preserved and connected in one living knowledge graph. Humanities research discoverable across every institution. Cultural knowledge never lost. Every voice amplified.
Every student on Earth accesses Harvard-quality knowledge. Personalized by sovereign AI. No data harvesting. Learning without limits.
A founder in Detroit gets the same intelligence as one in Palo Alto. Bias detection built into the architecture. Barriers eliminated.
65M knowledge connections accelerating discovery. Climate data to communities in real time. Every ecosystem monitored.
Environmental intelligence democratized. Living proof technology CAN serve people. Their thesis made architecture.
The farmer’s knowledge in Lumina’s education mission becomes the data in Packard’s science mission becomes the evidence in Ford’s justice mission becomes the tool in Kapor’s equity mission. Genesis connects them ALL. That’s what no one else can do.
$500M across 10 silos = 10 impacts.
$500M + Genesis = civilization infrastructure
that compounds forever.
Five priority areas: Democracy, Education, Humanities & Culture, Labor & Economy, and Security. Genesis addresses all five.
